said he could accommodate our entire group

Most of our guests arrived on Wednesday afternoon and evening. It was lucky timing because Cabanas la Luna always has a welcome barbecue on Wednesday nights. So we didn’t do a formal welcome dinner, but everyone decided to hang out and eat the delicious barbecue and enjoy a margarita. One of Mr. Stingray’s best men had met?a local magician performing the night before and surprised us with him at the welcome dinner. It was so awesome! He was very good and entertaining. There was also a live band playing—we?were all having a blast.?We ended the night at Villa Zanzibar catching up with all of our guests and just hanging out.

The next morning everyone had breakfast and relaxed on the beach. We left the day open for those that wanted to explore the ruins or Tulum, but didn’t have any structured plans until the rehearsal dinner. Some people ventured into town, to a cenote, or to the ruins. I’m so glad we ended up deciding to do things this way. It gave us the chance to hang out with all of our guests but also let anyone that wanted to do their own thing. I kept saying that it was just so amazing to have everyone there and be in the same “vacation” mindset. No one had to leave for work or go home early; we were all there to have fun and relax. It was incredible. We played some intense games of beach volleyball!

Mr. Stingray and I went over the final details about the ceremony with our officiant. Then we (finally) had the chance to meet up with our wedding planner and go over some of the details—because up until this point we still had no idea where the ceremony, dinner, and reception were actually taking place.

Then it was time for the rehearsal! It took about five minutes to tell everyone what would be happening the next day, since we had just figured it out ourselves, haha! Then we quickly ran back to the cabana and got changed and ready to head out to the rehearsal dinner.

Mr. Stingray’s mom and aunts arrived just on time! We were finally all there! We met up with our tribe and headed down the beach to our rehearsal dinner location. It was so great to all walk together down the beach to the restaurant. Even my grandma decided to walk the entire way!

Mr. Stingray and I went back and forth a bunch about whether we should have the rehearsal dinner at Cabanas la Luna or somewhere offsite. We ended up choosing a different location to mix things up a bit! We chose Simple—an authentic Mexican and seafood restaurant—sort of on a whim after our wedding planner suggested it. We thought the food sounded amazing, it would be fun to try something new, and it was within walking distance of La Luna. We didn’t know anything about it and there weren’t any pictures, but the owner, Ricky, said he could accommodate our entire group, and he worked with us in planning a menu that fit our budget.

I can definitely?say that I am SO glad we went with Simple. It was ahh-mazing and beat all of our expectations.

Everyone enjoyed seafood, tacos, ribs, guacamole, margaritas, and chocolate cake. They were also really great about?providing vegetarian meals for my sister and me. They set up two long white tables with white chairs to accommodate the 40 people. We loved inviting everyone to the rehearsal dinner since it was a small group of wedding guests and they all had traveled so far. It gave us even more time to spend with all of our guests.

I loved the artwork and decorations. There was a giant dreamcatcher hanging from the ceiling, and the entire place had an awesome vibe.

We all?danced the night away to the mariachi band! Then we walked back to Cabanas la Luna and hung out for a bit before heading to bed on our wedding eve!
